Tō tūranga hou | Your new role
As Assistant Accountant, you’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and leadership team to deliver high-quality financial support. This role covers everything from accounts payable and project invoicing to reconciliations, compliance, and assisting with budgets and reporting. You’ll also contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Accounts payable, credit card reconciliations, and supplier management
- Project invoicing and subcontractor expense allocation
- Bank and loan account reconciliations, Xero transactions
- Assist with monthly and annual financial statements
- Support compliance activities (GST, FBT, PAYE, tax returns)
- Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
- Provide ad hoc support for finance projects and reporting
Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed
- 5+ years’ New Zealand experience in a similar accounting role
- Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Xero
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks
- Proactive, tech-savvy, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Strong communications skills, both verbal and written
