We’re seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a portfolio within a well-established facilities services business in Wellington. This is a hands-on role where your strength in people leadership, performance management, and operational delivery will be key to success.
Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will take ownership of service delivery, team performance, and commercial outcomes across multiple sites, ensuring both operational excellence and a highly engaged workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop managers and supervisors, driving a strong performance culture with clear accountability, regular reviews, and ongoing coaching
- Ensure fair, consistent and compliant people management practices, including recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations
- Champion Health & Safety best practice, ensuring teams are trained, compliant, and working towards a goal of zero lost time injuries, with accurate reporting and regular site audits
- Deliver reliable, efficient and high-quality services that meet customer expectations, while proactively resolving day-to-day operational challenges
- Manage staffing levels, labour costs, equipment, and materials to ensure contracts are delivered efficiently and within budget
- Oversee the mobilisation of new contracts and continuously improve existing services, ensuring SOP compliance and effective resolution of issues and corrective actions
- Build strong customer relationships, maintain high satisfaction levels, and identify opportunities to grow revenue through new and existing business
- Contribute to branch profitability by managing budgets, forecasting costs, controlling expenses, and ensuring accurate and timely payroll and reporting
- Support the use of systems and technology, ensuring strong IT literacy across teams and engagement with automation and process improvements
About You
- Proven experience in operations management within facilities, services, or a similar industry
- Strong people leadership experience, with a passion for coaching and lifting team performance
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety leadership and compliance
- Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets and driving profitability
- Highly organised, with strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
- Confident using systems and working in a fast-paced environment
