Our client, a leading organisation in New Zealand's energy sector, is seeking a Health and Safety Practitioner to provide expert regional support across their operations. This role blends office-based and field-based work, including time in high-risk environments such as substations and transmission lines. This is a fixed-term role that will be based in the Waikato area and my client is looking to start the right person immediately. Experience within the energy or construction sector is desirable but not essential.

Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Wellbeing, your day-to-day will include:

• Providing expert H&S advice, coaching, and mentoring
• Leading and supporting incident investigations and sharing lessons learned
• Ensuring compliance with critical risk management and H&S systems
• Foster a culture of safety and well-being across all levels
• Engage with industry bodies and contribute to national standards

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

• Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety
• Strong knowledge of NZ H&S legislation
• Experience in high-risk, site-based environments
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Current NZ driver's licence
• Lead auditor or investigator certification (e.g., ICAM, TapRoot)
• Membership in NZISM or NZ Safety Council
• Experience with large contractors and field-based operations

• $80 - $90 per hour depending on experience
