Plumber - ANTARCTICA

Hays Recruitment is seeking expressions of interest from an experienced Plumber or Plumber Apprentice for an assignment at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. This unique opportunity involves working in one of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth.

QUALIFIED PLUMBER RATE:
$50 per hour (WAGES) $60 per hour (CONTRACTING)

APPRENTICE PLUMBER RATE:
$35 per hour (WAGES) $45 per hour (CONTRACTING)

Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica (approximately 1000 residents in summer season)
Two intakes available – choose one or stay for both:
  • Intake 1: October 2025 – Feb 2026
  • Intake 2: Feb 2026 – October 2026
You should have:
  • Unrestricted NZ Work Rights (no sponsorship or visa variations provided)
  • Proven experience and references working as a plumber
  • NZ Certificate in Plumbing (Level 4) OR Overseas Equivalent

  • Accommodation provided (you will be in a shared room)

  • Work schedule: Mon – Sat, 7am – 5pm
