We have a very COOL opportunity available for a Registered Electrician in Antarctica.
Hays Recruitment is seeking expressions of interest from a Registered Electrician to join the maintenance team at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. This unique opportunity involves working in one of the most remote and challenging environments on Earth.
Location: McMurdo Station, Antarctica (approximately 1000 residents in summer season)
Rate: $45 per hour (WAGES) $55 per hour (CONTRACTING)
Two intakes available – choose one or stay for both:
- Intake 1: October 2025 – Feb 2026
- Intake 2: Feb 2026 – October 2026
What to expect when you’re down there:
- Accommodation provided (you will be in shared accommodation)
- Free food (the meals aren’t Michelin starred, but they’re still pretty good)
- Free flights from any major NZ airport
- Work schedule: Mon – Sat, 7am – 5pm
What to expect before you start:
- Medical and dental checks
- Criminal background and security checks
- Vaccinations
