Te Nehenehenui is the newly formed Post-Settlement Governance Entity for Ngāti Maniapoto. The vision of Te Nehenehenui is to be an effective, responsive organisation managing resources responsibly to meet the needs and aspirations of our people and to provide for future generations.

Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

The Financial Accountant will uphold the identity and integrity of Ngāti Maniapoto and reflect the voice of Maniapoto descendants. You will deliver high quality, accurate and timely financial accounting services across our Group, including both Charitable and Commercial entities.
This involves the preparation of financial reports, providing key financial insights, and ensuring all financial accounting tasks are completed within agreed timeframes.

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant or similar processing-focused role
  • CA qualified, relevant tertiary qualification, or currently studying towards one.
  • Demonstrated experience in month-end processing, including journal preparation, reconciliations, reporting, and commentary
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ideally Xero
  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and planning within a processing context
  • Prior experience in Iwi/Māori organisations is advantageous but not essential.
  • Open-minded and culturally responsive, with a genuine commitment to upholding tikanga and the values of Te Nehenehenui
  • Strong relationship management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
