Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

You will step into a key Quantity Surveyor role within the commercial team, starting on a temp basis of around 25–30 hours a week to start and with future work in the pipeline, this could progress quickly into more hours if desired. You will work closely with Project Managers daily to deliver accurate costings, timelines, and project insights.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Preparing estimates and cost plans across a variety of commercial and carpentry-focused projects
  • Assessing construction durations based on scope, complexity, and available resources
  • Reviewing and validating contractor schedules to ensure alignment with project goals
  • Monitoring progress against planned timelines and advising on mitigation strategies
  • Supporting Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar performance tracking
  • Conducting site walk-throughs to ensure accuracy in measurements and costings
  • Collaborating with internal teams to resolve cost disputes and proactively manage risks

  • Experience in estimating or quantity surveying in a commercial project environment
  • Strong carpentry knowledge and understanding of construction sequencing
  • Commercial awareness of market rates, construction methods, and economic factors
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to assess and validate project timelines and contractor schedules
  • Confident communicator who can liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and consultants
  • A team player who’s flexible and willing to work with and support Project Managers
