As a Technical Bid Writer, you will take ownership of the end-to-end bid development process for major tenders and strategic proposals. This role combines exceptional writing skills with strong commercial and estimation knowledge to deliver compelling, accurate, and competitive submissions.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the full bid lifecycle from initial strategy through to submission and post-bid review.
  • Preparing executive-level documentation, including Gate papers for senior leadership.
  • Translating technical and commercial concepts into clear, persuasive narratives tailored to client needs.
  • Collaborating with estimators and project teams to ensure costings and scope accuracy.
  • Reviewing and refining estimation inputs for clarity and consistency in bid documentation.
  • Developing and maintaining a library of reusable content, case studies, and pricing narratives.
  • Coordinating internal bid reviews and ensuring compliance with client requirements and procurement frameworks.
  • Supporting strategic initiatives such as capability statements, white papers, and presentations.
  • Monitoring industry trends and competitor activity to strengthen bid strategies.
  • Driving continuous improvement in bid processes and tools.

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

  • 5+ years’ experience in technical writing and bid development for complex projects.Proven experience in electrical and HVAC project.
  • Proven success in delivering winning bids and executive-level documentation.
  • Strong understanding of project estimation principles and cost modelling.
  • Familiarity with NZ government procurement frameworks preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-team collaboration.
  • Ability to interpret and integrate cost breakdowns, schedules, and scope into bid narratives.
  • Experience working with estimators or quantity surveyors to validate pricing strategies.
  • Commercial awareness to align pricing with client expectations and market conditions.
