Intermediate Accountant

Join a growing Newmarket practice as an Intermediate Accountant. Great culture, clients, and career growth.

Tō kamupene hou | Your new company

I am working exclusively with a well-established and fast‑growing accounting practice based in Newmarket. Led by an easygoing and highly supportive Director, this firm is known for its warm culture, long-term staff retention, and genuinely kind client base.
The team is small, collaborative, and values strong communication, a positive attitude, and people who enjoy working together in the office each day. Due to ongoing growth, they are now seeking an Intermediate Accountant (or strong Senior) to join their friendly team.

Tō tūranga hou | Your new role

Reporting directly to the Director, you will play a crucial role in delivering high‑quality accounting services across a diverse portfolio. Clients include construction businesses, consultancies, agencies, rental property portfolios, childcare providers, small-to-medium enterprises, and several high-net‑worth individuals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing financial statements for companies, individuals, trusts, and partnerships
  • Preparing GST and income tax returns
  • Supporting tax planning and compliance activities
  • Providing clients with practical, down-to-earth accounting advice
  • Working extensively with Xero and cloud-based systems
(Note: IRD liaison is not required for this role.)

Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed

  • Practical Xero experience

  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, client-friendly personality

  • High attention to detail and strong time management

  • CA experience or progression (preferred but not essential)

  • A team-focused, proactive, and positive mindset

  • The ability to speak Mandarin would be a strong advantage but not a necessity, given a portion of the client base.

Ngā hua ka whiwhi i a koe | What you'll get in return

  • A welcoming, easygoing, and supportive team

  • A stable workplace with modern cloud-based systems

  • Opportunities for ongoing growth and development

  • A positive culture with realistic expectations and work-life balance
