Tō tūranga hou | Your new role
In this full-time role, you will be responsible for managing health insurance pre-approval applications, coordinating patient account workflows, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant. You will work closely with internal teams to support efficient scheduling and ensure patients are ready for treatment with the correct approvals in place. Because this is a new position, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to improving workflows and shaping best practice as the role evolves.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage health insurance pre-approval applications from submission through to approval
- Prepare, collate, and send accurate supporting documentation to insurers and patients
- Ensure full compliance with insurer criteria, procedures, and policy requirements
- Support invoicing processes related to approved procedures and debt collection
- Conduct eligibility audits and confirm approval requirements prior to patient treatment
- Coordinate with internal administration teams to support timely scheduling
- Maintain accurate and confidential records aligned with privacy and regulatory standards
- Assist in refining and developing processes as the role evolves
Ngā uara me ngā pūkenga e angitu ai koe | What you'll need to succeed
- Strong attention to detail and excellent accuracy
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable experience
- Competent using Xero and Excel
- Medical knowledge is preferred, or experience with contract management.
- Experience with private health insurance pre‑approvals (Southern Cross experience highly beneficial)
- Confident communication and coordination skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a healthcare environment
- Understanding of patient accounts, billing, and invoicing processes
- A proactive mindset and willingness to help shape a new role
