Business Development Manager

Your new role

This role focuses primarily on driving business development and fostering relationships to facilitate the growth of new commercial insurance accounts.

Key accountabilities include: developing strong relationships with commercial managers, prospective clients and the broader advisory team, articulating the company value proposition, generating new business, providing robust advice, and responding to enquiries from new and existing clients.

  • Facilitate the growth of partnerships with clients, through building strong relationships and referrals

  • Generate a strong pipeline of potential clients to seamlessly transition to servicing brokers

  • Effectively manage and retain a small, select portfolio of clients

  • Contribute to innovative and informative marketing initiatives.

  • Develop and deliver formal insurance program proposals and renewals.

  • Relationship Management of existing clients.

  • Ensure a consistently high level of service and professionalism.

  • Maintaining debtor control.

  • Claims assistance.

  • Liaise and build relationships with insurers and other interested parties.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Assist in the mentoring and training of junior staff.

  • Ability to work through issues / problems and find solutions.

  • Provide timely turnaround of client, insurer and management requests.

  • Understanding of the insurance environment and legislation.

What you'll need to succeed


  • Experience as BDM / Account Management
  • Ability to engage, create and maintain last relationships

  • Knowledge of insurance / commercial broking

  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to work to deadlines

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • The ability to be flexible in a rapidly growing organisation
