You will be working for a sector leading building supply manufacturer with a global presence whose innovative solutions are creating more sustainable construction practices. They provide an extensive product line that is utilised in the commercial, education, tourism, retail and industrial sectors. Innovation and sustainability are at the heart of their business and they have a mission to help accelerate a net-zero emissions future. Having recently acquired a new facility in Christchurch, the business is looking to invest heavily in developing new systems to improve the product offering available to the market.

Your new role
Reporting to the Operations Manager & Chemical Engineering Manager, your role will be to monitor the manufacturing processes to ensure that every product meets the compliance requirements and clients are receiving the high quality product that the business is known for. There are a number of systems in place currently and the initial focus will be to improve best practice and ensuring compliance standards are met. This is an exciting growth phase of the business and would suit someone who wants to make the role their own. Key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Perform physical testing of products in accordance with a broad range of test protocols specified by certifications and regulatory bodies.
  • Sampling, receipt, testing, and logging of incoming steel and chemicals.
  • Perform QA/QC checks of the production process as directed.
  • Conducting data entry tasks and gathering information relating to planet-passion initiatives and sustainability projects.
  • Assist process engineers & wider operations team as required to ensure the production of the highest quality products.
  • Participate in warranty investigation and root cause analysis of non-conforming products and processes.
  • Promote and support a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Adhere to requirements of Product Performance Compliance within the chemical team and across the Company and assist with ISO37301 where necessary.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, building product supply or chemical processing environment
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using SAP
  • Problem solving ability
  • Strong data interpretation skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask
  • Stress tolerance, work well under pressure
  • Organised, efficient and able to self-prioritise workload
  • A Tertiary level qualification in Chemistry or relevant science-related field would be beneficial but not essential.
