My candidate is an extremely well-presented individual who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a clear commitment to customer-centric values. Completing his building apprenticeship by his early 20s, he showed initiative and drive by becoming a self-employed builder with a focus on high-end residential builds and renovations in Auckland, taking full accountability for his own work and reputation. 

This experience required him to uphold high standards of communication, self-motivation, honesty, transparency, and trust when dealing with clients, suppliers, and project managers on-site. These qualities have enabled him to maintain professional standards and build long-term, trusted business relationships. 

In addition to his interpersonal strengths, he brings a broad and practical understanding of building tools and products. His hands-on experience gives him a strong technical foundation, and he’s quick to adapt when tools or technologies are upgraded—making him well-suited to roles that require both product knowledge and the ability to learn and evolve with the industry. 

He is humble about what he has achieved so far in his career. However, he now recognises the importance of planning for his long-term future, knowing that the physical demands of building won’t be sustainable throughout his working life.  

In relation to sales-based roles, he brings a valuable perspective—having been on the receiving end of account management himself. He understands the importance of having a reliable and trustworthy representative on his side. Through his own experiences, he knows that the account managers who stood out were those who demonstrated strong communication, consistent customer service delivery, honesty, and accountability. He is an independent young man with no ‘dependents’ or prior commitments and so is free to keep to a required work schedule and travel if and where needed.
